When we can’t see those we work with, it’s difficult to trust that the work is being done. That’s why it’s crucial to have a way for the team (not just the manager or team leader) to track what the team is achieving and to get regular feedback from others.
If this area needs your attention, you probably need to monitor team progress more closely and seek feedback more often.
- TOOL: Create a spreadsheet where people can update task progress.
- PROCESS: Review weekly (or daily in times of urgency) the spreadsheet/tool where progress is communicated.
- BEHAVIOUR: Make feedback part of your regular conversation, don’t wait until things go wrong.
